This 2020 film starring Elisabeth Moss is based on H. G. Wells 1897 science fiction novel, and a reboot of the 1933 movie starring Claude Rains. Eighty-seven years ago, Rains starred as Dr. Jack Griffin, a scientist who discovers the formula for invisibility, and, like any good evil scientist, tries to use his knowledge to take over the world. The new film stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen in the mad scientist role, as well as Moss’s character’s abusive ex-husband. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell (best known for the Insidious franchise), the film currently has a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
